Summary
As Head Preschool Teacher at New Beginnings Early Learning Center in Bristol, you'll lead a classroom where three- to five-year-olds are seen, supported, and set up to thrive. You'll design and deliver developmentally appropriate learning experiences grounded in CT ELDS and DOTS frameworks, build genuine relationships with children and families, and bring leadership and consistency to your classroom every day. This is a role for an educator who takes their practice seriously and wants to grow within a program committed to quality.
Duties
Curriculum and Instruction
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate learning experiences aligned with CT ELDS
- Utilize DOTS for ongoing assessment and documentation of children's development
- Create lesson plans incorporating multiple teaching methods and experiential learning
- Modify teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs and foster emerging literacy, basic skills, and language development
Classroom Management
- Create and maintain a safe, clean, and engaging indoor and outdoor learning environment
- Establish consistent routines and positive behavior expectations
- Supervise and support teacher assistants and volunteers
- Prepare and organize age-appropriate materials and equipment
Assessment and Documentation
- Implement DOTS assessment system to track and document student progress
- Maintain accurate student records in compliance with state regulations
- Identify children showing signs of developmental concerns and implement appropriate interventions
Family and Professional Collaboration
- Communicate regularly with families regarding child progress and development
- Collaborate with teaching team and specialists to support children with special needs
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and program evaluation
Health and Safety
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations
- Support children's development of self-help skills and personal hygiene
- Implement proper procedures for meals, snacks, and health protocols
Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the following credential pathways:
- Current CDA plus 12 or more ECE credits
- Bachelor's degree or higher with an early childhood concentration from a regionally accredited institution
- Current Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) Early Childhood Certification Endorsement
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood from an OEC Approved College plus a B-level Early Childhood Teacher Credential (ECTC)
- Bachelor's degree in any field plus 12 or more credits in early childhood or child development AND successful completion of the B-level ECTC Individual Review Route

- Experience with Brightwheel or similar childcare management software
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification

Salary : $18.50 to $21.50/Hr
