Summary

We’re excited to offer a full-time opportunity for an Assistant Center Director at the Mary Stuart Gile Early Learning Center at NHTI, the child development center of the Boys & Girls Club of Central and Northern New Hampshire. As a laboratory school, our center serves as a model for best practices in early childhood education, where student teachers work alongside experienced staff in a collaborative learning environment.


Serving children from 6 weeks through kindergarten, our center is dedicated to nurturing young learners while supporting families and developing future educators. This role has opened due to an internal promotion, reflecting the strong growth and advancement opportunities within our multi-site organization, committed to professional development and training.


We are looking for a motivated, compassionate professional who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children. The Assistant Center Director works closely with the Center Director to support staff, ensure a safe and engaging learning environment, and uphold our mission of providing high-quality early childhood education.

Duties

Program Development and Implementation

- Maintains developmentally appropriate curriculum in all classrooms.

- Oversees classroom safety, supervision, materials, and environment to adhere to best practices.

- Variety of administrative tasks, including but not limited to, scheduling tours and other appointments, inputting data into the MTS system for billing purposes,

and compiling data and paperwork for college students placed into the program.

- Provides program guidance to families, students, teaching staff, and the community in relation to the curriculum.

-Encourages family involvement in the program; welcomes the families' role in the program.

 

Supervision

-Assists Center Director with the execution of personnel policies and the recruitment and retention of staff.

-Assists teachers in planning and implementing weekly, monthly, and yearly classroom curriculum; provides classroom support as needed.

-Supervises and evaluates all elements of the curriculum in all of the classrooms.

-Attends planning meetings with teaching teams to support curriculum development and environmental enhancements.

-Maintains professional activities and related professional memberships.

-Mentors and supports staff.

-Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

•Have a minimum of an Associate’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.

•Three years of experience in Early Childhood Education is required.

•Knowledge of child development and current education theories and practices.

•Thorough knowledge of current literature in developmentally appropriate practice, emergent curriculum, and adult learning theories.

•Ability to meet with students, families, and staff to explain programs offered in detail.

•Ability to form developmentally appropriate relationships with children and promote positive behavior guidance.

•Ability to communicate with families in a variety of methods.

•Ability to assume responsibility for the program in the absence of the Director.

•Responsible for having a thorough knowledge of the NH CCLU (Child Care Licensing Unit) rules.

•Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities.

•Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications.

•May be required to drive Club van/short bus periodically.

•Must possess a safe driving record.

•May be required to assist in cleaning and organizing the Club.

Note: The State of NH Childcare Licensing Bureau may prohibit you from being employed by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire should there be a disqualifying finding on your criminal record. In addition, even if the State of NH reviews your records and allows you to work at the Club, we still reserve the right to determine your employment status.
