Summary
The Georgia Pre-K Assistant Teacher (Summer Transition Program) supports the Lead Teacher in providing a structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning experience in alignment with Bright from the Start (DECAL) standards. This short-term program is designed to help children strengthen school readiness skills and successfully transition into a Pre-K or kindergarten classroom setting.
The Assistant Teacher helps implement daily classroom activities, supports lesson delivery, and assists with managing routines to promote a positive and organized learning environment. This role includes supporting children’s social, emotional, and early academic development while ensuring a safe and nurturing classroom.
The Assistant Teacher works collaboratively with the Lead Teacher, maintains compliance with program requirements, and contributes to a supportive classroom experience for both students and families during the program.
Duties
- Supervision and daily class functions of a group of children
- Establish and maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment
- Observes all rules and regulations at Chroma Early Learning Academy and the local, state, and national agencies pertaining to the health, safety, and care of children
- Support each child’s social and emotional development and provide positive guidance
- Assess each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis
- Implements the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule in accordance with the Chroma Early Learning Academy curriculum and programming
- Maintains an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence
- Provides verbal recognition and acceptance to children while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior
- Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas, and playgrounds
- Attends all staff meetings, workshops, and/or school functions
- Maintains overall professional personal appearance adhering to the guidelines offered in the Chroma Early Learning Academy Employee Handbook
- Knowledge of the social, emotional and creative needs of young children
Requirements
Satisfactory Background Check
Must be at least 18 years of age
CDA, TCC, TCD, Paraprofessional Certificate, Associate’s Degree
(AA, AS, AAS, AAT) or higher credential in child development, early childhood
education, family and child development, elementary education, educational
leadership
