We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative individual to serve as Assistant to the Preschool Director. This is a part-time role, approximately 25 hours per week, during preschool hours. This position is essential to the daily operations of our preschool, providing administrative support, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and helping create a smooth, positive environment for staff, children, and families.
Duties
- Support the Preschool Director with day-to-day administrative tasks
- Maintain and organize children’s records, including medical forms and required documentation
- Ensure compliance with Connecticut state childcare licensing regulations
- Order and manage classroom and office supplies
- Assist with communication between staff, families, and administration
- Provide support to teachers as needed
- Help manage general office operations and organization
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the program
Requirements
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail) required
- Previous office or administrative experience in an early childhood education or childcare setting preferred
- Familiarity with preschool operations and environments strongly preferred
- Knowledge of Connecticut childcare licensing regulations required
- Demonstrated ability to uphold school policies and communicate them to families with confidence, clarity, and professionalism, including in situations requiring firm decision-making
Nice To Haves
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
- Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Coursework or credits in Early Childhood Program Administration and Leadership
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Medication Administration Training
- Current Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC) Registry account and up-to-date BCIS clearance
