Classroom Assistant

Summary

We are currently looking for a classroom assistant to join our team for a full-time 8-3 schedule in a 3-6yo classroom. Assistants collaborate with lead teachers to maintain the classroom and support the children’s development. Candidates must have classroom experience and should be confident in classroom management. An ideal candidate would have experience in a Montessori environment, but being to learn Montessori practices is sufficient. This position comes with opportunities for growth and school sponsored Montessori training for candidates interested in a career in Montessori education.

Duties

Responsibilities include: 

• Safe supervision of children
• Supporting young children's development and independence under direction of Lead Montessori Guide
• Classroom/playground monitoring
• Maintaining clean and orderly classroom spaces
• Contributing to the respect and joy in our community 

Requirements

Requirements include:  

• High school diploma (early childhood certification or equivalent preferred)
• Prior experience with young children
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to be reliable, consistent, and flexible
• Ability to easily get up from/down on the floor to children’s level as well as lift up to 30 lbs
• Willingness to learn and adopt Montessori practices
