Summary

Friends Center is an early childhood education center providing year-round, full-time care for children ages 3 months to 5 years. We offer a child-centered, hands-on learning experience in a safe and nurturing environment. At the Center, children learn through creative play and a wide range of developmentally appropriate activities. Position Summary: The Flint Street Program Receptionist/Office Assistant is responsible for supporting the Flint Street Operations and Program. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to greeting families, answering phones, filing, ordering, ensuring all documents are current and up to date, and consistently checking emails and responding accordingly in a timely manner, covering classrooms and breaks as needed. Must be flexible to cover the needs of the center on a day-to-day basis and provide excellent customer service to our families and students. The Program Receptionist/Office Assistant participates fully in the culture and community life of Friends Center. 


Reports to: Chief Operating Officer and School Director

Classification: FTE - Exempt

Hours: Full-time; 40 hours, some evenings, and occasional weekend hours

Salary Range: $35K - $40K  

Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Greet all who enter the facility upon arrival and departure
  • Collect and distribute incoming mail packages and outgoing items
  • Answer phones
  • Ensure all common areas are welcoming, clean, organized, and simple (uncluttered).
  • Filing paperwork into the appropriate files
  • Ensure bathrooms and kitchens are appropriately stocked with paper goods and cleaning supplies
  • Water plants
  • Assist  in classrooms in ratio and cover teacher breaks on an as-needed basis (needs may fluctuate often)
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer or other administrator
  • Managing the database system 
  • Inventory and delivery of snacks and paper goods for Flint
  • Ensure staff rooms are appropriately stocked with paper goods and cleaning supplies
  • Ensuring that the supplies and materials needed for the Concession/Reception area are organized  
  • Welcome and manage all visitors 

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: 

● High School Diploma or GED, Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred 

Experience working in a human service environment is preferred 

● Ability to communicate effectively and professionally 

● Interest in the mission and vision of Friends Center, including Quaker values 

● Ability to interact warmly with young children and families

● Self-motivated, proactive, resourceful, and creative problem solver 

● Attention to detail 

● Friendly and professional 

● Good time management skills 

● Fluency or conversational Spanish is a plus

  • Read and understand information on a computer screen 

Physical Requirements:

  • Vision and hearing must be within normal range so as to be able to provide sight and sound supervision
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs
  • Ability to bend, sit on the floor for prolonged periods, and get up again is required
  • Must be able to walk up/down a flight of stairs
