Summary
Floor Covering Takeoff / Estimator
A Takeoff Estimator is responsible for analyzing construction plans and specifications to determine the materials, quantities, and costs required for a project. You will prepare detailed material takeoffs, estimate labor and equipment needs, and collaborate with project managers and subcontractors to ensure accurate cost projections. This role is crucial in budgeting and bidding processes, helping contractors and developers make informed financial decisions. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in estimating software are essential for success in this role.
Duties
- Calculate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs for flooring projects.
- This role works closely with sales teams, project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure competitive pricing and successful project planning.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for flooring materials such as carpet, tile, hardwood, laminate, vinyl, and related accessories.
- Conduct site visits and field measurements when necessary.
- Communicate with general contractors, builders, and clients regarding bid clarifications and project requirements.
- Evaluate labor productivity and installation timelines to ensure accurate scheduling estimates.
- Maintain strong relationships with installers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of estimating experience in flooring, construction, or a related trade preferred.
- Strong understanding of flooring materials, installation methods, and industry standards.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Project management is a plus but not required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Professionalism, to include dependability, accountability, and punctuality.
- Self-motivated and internally driven to excel in your position and career.
- Time management skills for juggling multiple deadlines and deliverables.
