Lead Teacher 2 Year Old Class

Summary

We are looking to add to our fun, friendly, and professional staff. We are looking for a Lead Teacher for our older 2-year-old program to work Monday through Friday from 8:45am - 1:15pm.

Duties

• Being the communications liaison between the Maitland Presbyterian Preschool and the parents, through monthly calendars, newsletters, phone conversations and email.
• Prepare daily lesson plans that will include developmentally appropriate early childhood experiences in art, literacy, music, science, mathematics and dramatic play.
• Promote and facilitate activities that promote the healthy emotional, social, cognitive and physical development of each child.
• Facilitate circle time, skill work, and art projects.  
• Provide and maintain a safe, neat and organized classroom.  Take responsibility for upkeep of all educational equipment and materials.
• Establish and implement a daily schedule.
• Ensure that the teacher assistant is kept informed on a daily basis of any changes to the class schedule or lesson plan.
• Maintain records of progress of each child’s growth and development. Schedule parent/teacher conferences as needed or twice a year. 
• Work with parents whenever possible to promote understanding of growth and development of their child in school and encourage parent participation in school programs whenever possible. 
• Keep the Director and Associate Director informed of any concerns about a child’s development, parent concerns, or other problems that should be addressed in the best interest of the program.
• Meet licensing and center requirements for in-service training and professional growth.
• Attend staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.
• Maintaining confidentiality of children, parents, and fellow staff members.
• Maintaining professional attitude and loyalty to the MPP at all times.
• Be responsible for knowing all of the policies and procedures of the MPP.

Requirements

The person selected for this position must be at least 18 years of age and have a strong desire to work with young children.  This person must have a warm, nurturing, and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well with children and their parents or guardians and be willing to fulfill his/her responsibilities in accordance with Maitland Presbyterian Preschool’s philosophy. Because this teacher will have a teacher assistant, this person must have a mature attitude that allows him/her to communicate effectively, problem solve, and anticipate needs of his/her fellow workers. A degree in an appropriate major or Child Development Associate (CDA) and experience working with children is preferred but not required.  

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience in a childcare setting.
• Must have the required DCF 45 hours.
• High energy and the ability to work well with others.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Warm and friendly personality; be sensitive to the needs of others; and be able to relate well to children.
• Must have, or be willing to get, CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must clear full background check.
