Summary
Our Teachers create a warm, nurturing, and nature-inspired learning environment where children feel safe, valued, and engaged. They plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based experiences, foster meaningful relationships with children and families, and support each child’s social, emotional, and academic growth through hands-on, outdoor-focused learning.
Duties
- Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum aligned with a nature-focused philosophy
- Engage children in hands-on learning experiences, including outdoor exploration and nature play as weather permits
- Supervise children at all times, both indoors and outdoors, ensuring health and safety standards are met
- Observe, document, and support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
- Foster positive relationships with children, families, and team members
- Collaborate with co-teachers and support staff to maintain consistent routines and classroom flow
- Model respectful, patient, and responsive interactions with children
- Maintain classroom and outdoor learning spaces, including preparation, cleanup, and organization of materials
- Follow all center policies, licensing regulations, and safety procedures
- Communicate effectively with families regarding daily activities, milestones, and concerns
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
Requirements
- CPR and AED Training (required or must be obtained upon hire).
- Either an ECE Associate’s Degree or completion of the state-required Early Childhood Foundational Trainings.
- Experience working with children in an early childhood setting preferred.
- Ability to adapt to different age groups, routines, and teaching styles.
- Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a commitment to teamwork.
- Willingness to support nature-based, play-centered learning approaches.
Nice To Haves
- Background or prior experience in Early Childhood Education.
- A love for the outdoors and comfort working in all weather conditions.
- Coursework or experience in environmental sciences or nature-based learning.
- Training in Conscious Discipline or other social–emotional learning frameworks.
- Familiarity with the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS).
- Completion of Pyramid Model training or experience implementing Pyramid Model practices.
- Knowledge of infant or early childhood mental health principles.
- Experience supporting inclusive classrooms or working with diverse learning needs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Creativity, flexibility, and a passion for play-based learning.
