Assistant Infant Teacher

Summary

The Earthplace Preschool is currently hiring an Assistant Teacher for the infant classroom. The shift is the closing shift 12:15am-6:00pm

Preschool teachers work as part of a team. At Earthplace Preschool, we understand that the teacher's approach and demeanor set the tone for the classroom. An intentional, thoughtful approach and calm demeanor are imperative for success with young children.

The position is Monday thru Friday 12:15pm - 6:00pm offering a competitive salary based on experience. This is a part-time position eligible for PTO and FLOATING holidays.

Duties

Earthplace Preschool offers a unique brand of nature-based preschool in Westport, CT. Students spend most of their time outside on the 62 acres of wooded land that offers hiking trails, a frog pond, meadows, streams, tree groves, vernal pools, rock formations, and much more. Each day children learn through exploration, investigation and experimentation! The children construct their own learning using critical thinking skills, creativity, and innovation. As an Earthplace Teacher be prepared to spend time outside in all weather conditions and for long periods of time. 

Our program for Infants/Toddlers at Earthplace promises the same high quality of care and innovation. These young children need guidance as they develop through “tummy time” and taking their first steps. As they age, the young children rely on their teachers for language acquisition, encouragement of gross motor and fine motor skills. These young children are just starting to share, think about others feelings and form true friendships. Infant/Toddler teachers can expect to change a lot of diapers, give many hugs and lots of snuggles to these young and affectionate children. Earthplace is looking for teachers that have an understanding of child development to help encourage these skills within this unique group of children. Teachers will be offered training opportunities throughout the year. At Earthplace, we encourage and expect teachers to increase their knowledge and facilitate the learning of young children!

Requirements

• ECE courses and/or 2 years working with toddlers and/or preschoolers. 
• A passion and commitment to make a positive difference in the lives of young children and families.
• Hard-working, reliable and desire to learn
• Working knowledge of CT Statutes and Regulations, NAEYC criteria, and the CT ELDS
• Positive Attitude

Nice To Haves

• Excellent Communication Skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Experience with Tadpoles Application - helping to simplify childcare
• Should be comfortable picking up 50 pounds to chest height

This is a par-time position elidable for PTO, FLOATING holidays, life insurance, and reduced tuition rates for childcare if spaces are available.

$19/hour - $20/hour - based on experience and education level
