Summary
Northeast Youth Center is seeking a qualified and dedicated ECEAP Behavior Support Specialist to provide targeted behavioral and social‑emotional support to preschool‑aged children enrolled in the ECEAP program. This position assists teaching teams in implementing individualized behavior strategies, trauma‑informed practices, and social‑emotional learning approaches to ensure a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. The Behavior Support Specialist works collaboratively with staff and leadership to support child success and maintain compliance with ECEAP Performance Standards.
This position is guaranteed through June 2026 and may extend as funding allows.

Duties
- Provide individualized and small‑group behavioral support to children with identified behavioral, social‑emotional, or developmental needs.
- Assist in implementing individualized behavior support plans and intervention strategies.
- Model and reinforce positive behavior, self‑regulation, and problem‑solving skills.
- Support children during transitions, routines, and challenging situations to ensure safety and emotional stability.
- Maintain active supervision and adhere to all ECEAP and licensing requirements.
- Collaborate with teaching teams, family services staff, and program leadership to support child and family needs.
- Document behavioral observations, interventions, and progress in accordance with program requirements.
- Support the implementation of trauma‑informed care, Conscious Discipline, and other approved social‑emotional frameworks.
- Assist with classroom organization and preparation to maintain a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
- Participate in meetings, case reviews, and professional development activities as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with young children in early learning, childcare, behavioral support, or a related setting.
- Knowledge of child development, positive behavior support, and social‑emotional learning practices.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and supportive during challenging behaviors.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
Additional Requirements
- Successful completion of a background check and TB test.
- Completion of all state‑required trainings upon hire.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively support children in classroom and outdoor settings.
- Reliable attendance and adherence to program schedules.

Preferred Qualifications
•Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Psychology, Behavioral Health, or a related field.
•Experience working in ECEAP, Head Start, or another state funded preschool program.
•Training or experience with Conscious Discipline, trauma informed care, or behavior intervention strategies.
•Bilingual or multilingual skills.
