Assistant Twos Teacher

Summary

Tarrytown Children’s Center is a nurturing Christian preschool serving young children and families in the Austin community. We strive to create a loving, faith-centered environment where children learn through play, exploration, and positive relationships.

We are seeking a caring and dependable Teacher Assistant for our Twos classroom to support the lead teachers and help create a warm, engaging environment for our young learners. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with toddlers and being part of a collaborative classroom team.

The assistant will help guide children through daily routines, support learning activities, and ensure the classroom remains safe, organized, and welcoming.

This position will begin in August 2026 for the upcoming school year.

Duties

• Assist the lead teachers with daily classroom activities and routines
• Engage with children through play, reading, and hands-on learning
• Help supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities
• Support children during transitions such as snack time, clean-up, and rest time
• Maintain a safe, positive, and nurturing classroom environment
• Help keep the classroom clean and organized

Requirements

• Able to legally work in the United States of American and pass a full background check
• High school diploma or equivalent (CDA or Early Childhood Education credits preferred)
• Previous childcare or preschool experience required
• Able to speak, read and write English
• A passion for working with toddlers and young children
• Reliable, patient, and attentive
• Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
• Able to lift 30 pounds
• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification

Nice To Haves

• A degree in education or a related field
• Experience as a lead teacher or co-teacher in multiple age groups
