The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire is a dynamic organization that currently supports 200 staff working in 30 Early Childhood and Out of School Time programs with a large geographic footprint. We have an exciting, full-time opportunity for a caring, energetic, and organized individual to oversee programming and daily enrichment activities in Laconia, NH. The Art Director is responsible for creating daily activities for members ages 5 to 18. The Art Director is expected to keep the art room neat and to submit weekly program reports to the Branch Director/Area Manager. The Art Director may also be asked to plan and implement a fee-based Summer Art Camp for middle school students.
Prepare Youth for Success
1. Plans and oversees the administration of designated Clubhouse programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes:
·Establishes program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission.
·Oversees the provision of age-appropriate day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
·Ensures that all childcare licensing requirements per the NH Childcare Licensing Bureau are implemented.
·Ensures that all BGCCNH policies and procedures are followed.
·Ensures that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and that they receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s).
·Demonstrates leadership to ensure proper conduct, safety, and development of members.
Program Development and Implementation
2. Establishes and maintains program goals and settings to ensure the health and safety of members. Ensures that the Junior/Senior program staff understands and effectively communicates art program standards; that they ensure program areas are safe, well-ventilated, and well-lit; and that Club equipment is maintained in good working condition.
3. Ensures the evaluation of Clubs programs on a continual basis, including tracking outcome metrics; verifies that programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
4. Maintains an adequate supply of arts and crafts supplies by placing orders with the Branch Director/Area Manager and actively seeks out new grant opportunities with the Communications Director.
5. Controls program and activity expenditures within the approved budget.
6. Designs and implements a fee-based Summer Art Camp for middle school students. Responsible for all outreach efforts in order to meet the enrollment goals for the Summer Art Camp.
Supervision
7. Allocates and monitors work assigned to Summer Camp volunteers and staff, providing ongoing feedback and regular appraisal. Identifies and supports training and development opportunities for assigned volunteers and staff.
8. Oversees proper record keeping and weekly reporting, including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements, and any problems/issues.
9. Increases visibility of Club programs via daily postings and announcements of upcoming events through different social media channels, parent emails, etc.
• Two-year degree in a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred; must be 21 years of age.
• Preferably a minimum of two years of work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization with planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people; 600-1000 hours experience working with children in a licensed child care program, recreation program, or elementary school.
• Proven working experience as Art Director.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
• Demonstrated organizational, staff, and project management abilities.
• Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications in order to meet Bureau of Childcare licensing requirements.
· Occasional travel to other Branch/Site locations is expected.
· Will be required to drive the Club van periodically.
· Must possess a safe driving record and submit a copy of such record to either the Operations Director or Human Resources Coordinator.
