This position reports to the Director and is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment for the children and staff. This position makes independent decisions on the handling of many maintenance and custodial issues, as well as bus driver duties.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
O Maintain the building and grounds to be free of all trash and debris
O Ensure that all equipment if functioning as designed.
O Clean up all spills as quickly as possible
O Maintain all vehicles to include, gas, oil and repairs.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Custodian performs the following duties:
O Perform janitorial, light maintenance, grounds keeping and meeting room set-up duties.
O Essential duties include cleaning internal areas of buildings during work hours, including sweeping and mopping, wiping down doors, emptying trash cans and consolidating trash
O Makes minor repairs and adjustments to fixtures and equipment.
O Performs routine ground keeping duties such as picking up paper and other trash on grounds and sweeping walks and entrances.
O Performs special custodial and minor maintenance work for faculty members or administrators such as setting up rooms and auditoriums, moving desks and chairs, and replacing light bulbs.
O Maintains equipment used in the course of work and reports any safety, sanitary or fire hazards observed.
O Refills bathroom and classroom supply dispensers and dispensers in other areas as needed.
O Maintaining and repairing buildings' plumbing and electrical systems, replacing worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring and belts in machines and equipment and assisting other departments with moving furniture and unloading and storing supplies.
O Drives the school bus over the assigned route in accordance with time schedule, picking up and discharging students.
O Assists in loading and unloading of pupils, food & equipment
O Enforces county offices policies and procedures and maintain discipline on buses.
O Prepares daily reports such as mileage, vehicle condition, student loads, incident reports and student citations.
O Maintains bus cleanliness on a daily basis.
O Fuels bus.
O Renders first aid or emergency assistance as needed
O Make minor mechanical repairs and assist in changing tires.
O Keep mechanical/phone room free of obstructions. Do not use as a storage area.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications are:
O A high school diploma
O Two years experience in custodial employment.
O Knowledge of: modern cleaning methods; proper use and care of cleaning materials and equipment; safety practices and procedures in use of equipment.
