Summary

Mālamalama Waldorf School is seeking a Hawaiian Studies Teacher for Grades PreK through Elementary for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year, continuing into 2026–2027.

This part-time position supports and expands our Hawaiian Studies program in collaboration with our current Kumu, who serves the upper grades. We are looking for someone who can bring their unique gifts and strengths to help shape and enrich our program.

As a school, we honor Hawaiian history and culture by enlivening it in the present and striving to be thoughtful stewards of the ʻāina. We value teachers who cultivate respect, connection, and cultural understanding within the school community.

Duties

Duties include:

• Teach Hawaiian Studies to PreK through Elementary students

• Collaborate with our current Kumu and faculty

• Develop and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons

• Integrate Hawaiian history, culture, language, and stewardship of the ʻāina

• Foster healthy relationships with students, parents, and colleagues

• Participate in faculty collaboration as appropriate

Requirements

• Experience teaching Hawaiian Studies preferred

• Strong classroom management and communication skills

• Understanding of child development

• Self-directed, creative, and collaborative approach

• Interest in and commitment to Waldorf education and Anthroposophy

• Ability to reliably commute to or relocate to Keaʻau, HI 96749
