Description

Summary

We are looking for a compassionate and attentive Assistant Teacher to support the development and daily care of infants in a structured early childhood setting. Skilled in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes cognitive, emotional, and physical growth. This position assists one lead teacher with lesson implementation, maintaining detailed care records, and fostering positive relationships with families. Committed to supporting each child’s individual needs while ensuring a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment. This classroom can have up to 7 children with a 4 children to 1 teacher ratio. Children in this classroom are ages 6 months to 12 months.

Duties

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that support infants’ cognitive, sensory, motor, and social-emotional development.
  • Provide attentive, responsive care including feeding, diapering, dressing, and maintaining individualized sleep schedules.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom environment by following health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
  • Monitor infants closely at all times to ensure safety and well-being.
  • Observe and document developmental milestones and daily activities, including feeding, diapering, and nap times.
  • Support the development of early communication skills through talking, singing, reading, and interactive play.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with families and communicate daily updates regarding their child’s care.
  • Maintain organized classroom materials and sanitize toys, bottles, and equipment regularly.
  • Follow licensing regulations and center policies, including safe sleep practices and emergency procedures.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to create a warm, inclusive, and developmentally supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old and have satisfactorily completed 2 credits in early childhood education or its equivalent within 6 months after assuming the position. 

OR

  • Be at least 18 years old and have satisfactorily completed one, non-credit department approved course in early childhood education within 6 months after assuming the position. (Introduction to the Child Care Profession)

Nice To Haves

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or coursework in Early Childhood Education
  • CPR and First Aid certification (Infant/Child)
  • Previous experience working in an infant or toddler classroom setting
  • Knowledge of infant developmental milestones and early learning standards
  • Familiarity with safe sleep practices and state childcare licensing regulations
  • Experience with developmental observation and documentation tools
  • Experience supporting children with diverse learning needs or developmental delays
  • Strong classroom organization and time-management skills
  • Experience using childcare management or parent communication apps
  • Background in positive behavior support strategies
  • Passion for early childhood development and a nurturing, patient demeanor

Salary : $14.50 to $17.50/Hr
