Our mission at A Million Dreamz is to offer quality, affordable child care 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, in an all-inclusive and kind environment while providing resources, referrals, advocacy, and other services to encourage and support the continuing development of healthy families.
The Lead cook is responsible for providing nutritious and appealing meals to the AMD students. They are also responsible for daily operations of the kitchen and supervising kitchen staff. They are responsible for maintaining a clean and safe kitchen and adhering to all food safety regulations. The Lead Cook will create and maintain an affordable and nutritious menu, do all ordering while staying within a budget, ensure the completion of all required paperwork in a timely manner.
Duties
- Plan weekly menus in accordance with CACFP and DCF 251 guidelines, entering data into the AMD Menu spreadsheet and the KidKare web based program.
- Work with the Center Director to obtain projected meal attendance and real-time attendance counts.
- Purchase food and supplies in a budget friendly manner.
- Maintain inventory of food, kitchen supplies and equipment.
- Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to the posted menu and schedule.
- Ensure that food is stored, handled and prepared in accordance with CACFP and DCF 251 guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records on student and staff food allergies. Accommodate meals for individuals with allergies.
- Complete CACFP paperwork accurately and timely, meeting deadlines for submission.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, cleaning throughout the day as you work.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff and maintain a kitchen work schedule.
- Find replacement staff in cases of absenteeism and fill in as needed.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Provide snacks or meals as directed by administration for events held on site.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 years experience in food service.
- ServSafe certificate and 1 hour of continuing education every consecutive year.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be flexible and able to react appropriately to continually changing circumstances.
- Basic understanding of frequently used computer software and programs and the aptitude to learn new software.
- Must be organized and able to multitask.
- Pass a background check.
- In alliance with to DCF 251 employees of group child care facilities must be “Fit and qualified”. “Fit and qualified” means displaying the capacity to successfully nurture and care for children and may include consideration of any of the following: (a) Abuse of alcohol or drugs. (b) A history of a civil or criminal conviction or administrative rule violation that is substantially related to the care of children, as determined under s. DCF 13.05. (c) Exercise of unsound judgment.
