Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing After-School Teacher / Floater to join our educational team. This role involves supervising and engaging children in a safe, supportive, and structured environment during after-school hours. The ideal candidate is flexible, energetic, and passionate about working with children across multiple age groups.

This is a part-time position, with a primary focus on the after-school program. However, we are seeking an individual with open availability who is willing to serve as a morning substitute or floater as needed. Additional hours are likely for candidates who demonstrate flexibility and strong performance.

Duties

  • Adapt to various roles as a floater across classrooms or activity areas as needed
  • Supervise children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety, well-being, and engagement
  • Lead or assist with structured activities such as homework help, arts and crafts, sports, theater, and other enrichment opportunities
  • Promote positive behavior using age-appropriate classroom management techniques
  • Provide basic first aid when necessary and respond appropriately to emergencies
  • Support children with special needs or individualized education plans (IEPs) as needed
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to plan and implement engaging activities that support child development
  • Assist with daily setup and cleanup of classrooms and activity areas
  • Foster a nurturing, inclusive environment that encourages social skills, creativity, independence, and confidence

Requirements

  • Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, after-school programs, camps, tutoring, or childcare
  • Basic knowledge of child development and age-appropriate practices
  • Strong classroom management and behavior guidance skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and staff
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet changing daily needs
  • Experience working with children with special needs or in inclusive settings is a plus
  • Background in teaching, theater, sports coaching, babysitting, counseling, or related fields is advantageous

Nice To Haves

  • Degree or coursework in Education, Early/Middle Childhood Education, or a related field (Preferred but not required)
  • Teaching or childcare-related certifications (Preferred but not required)
