Assistant Food Prep Worker

Summary

The Assistant Food Preparation worker assists the Food Worker in serving meals and snacks to children and staff at an early childhood center with six classrooms. This person is responsible for operation of kitchen equipment, keeping the kitchen clean and sanitary, and may be required to prepare meals and snacks in the absence of the food preparation worker.

Duties

• Assist Food Preparation Worker in preparing breakfast, lunch, and snack. 
• Responsible for the proper daily operation of all kitchen equipment, including the dumbwaiter.  
• Take daily classroom count.  
• Distribute and collect utensils, plates, and cups to and from classrooms. 
• Keep linen closets and pantry in a clean and orderly condition. 
• Prepare meals and snacks in the absence of the Food Preparation Worker 
• Perform other duties as may be required. 
• Maintain current food handler certificate.  
• Participate in CACFP training as necessary. 

 

Requirements

• Ability to carry out work orders. 
• Ability to establish a good relationship with staff and children. 
• Able to follow and establish work schedule. 
• Ability to lift and carry dishes, trays and cooking utensils weighing 35 to 40 pounds;
• Ability to scrub pots and pans and operate dishwasher;
• Ability to walk to classrooms and climb stairs. 
• Ability to prepare meals and snacks in the absence of the food preparation worker. 
• Must clear full background check
• Must pass health screening
