Summary
We are seeking a dependable and flexible Substitute Teacher to support our daycare classrooms as needed. The ideal candidate will help maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for young children while ensuring daily routines and classroom activities run smoothly in the absence of the regular teacher. This role involves supervising children, assisting with age-appropriate learning activities, supporting social and emotional development, and following established lesson plans and center policies. Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a genuine passion for early childhood care are essential.
Duties
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times
- Maintain daily classroom routines, schedules, and behavior expectations
- Implement lesson plans and activities provided by the lead teacher or director
- Engage children in age-appropriate educational, play, and creative activities
- Assist with meals, snacks, diapering, toileting, and nap time as needed
- Monitor and support children’s social, emotional, and developmental needs
- Manage classroom behavior using positive guidance techniques
- Communicate effectively with daycare staff regarding classroom needs or concerns
- Follow all center policies, state regulations, and health and safety procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
Requirements
- Is at least 18 years of age.
- At least 2 credits or one noncredit, department-approved course in early childhood education before completing 240 cumulative hours of work as a substitute.
