Infant – Four Year Afternoon Assistant

Summary

Brookwood Preschool Academy is seeking a nurturing, dependable, and team-oriented Assistant Teacher to support our Infant through Four-Year-Old classrooms. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, loving, Christ-centered learning environment while assisting the Lead Teacher in implementing daily classroom activities and routines.

Assistant Teachers support the mission of Brookwood Preschool Academy by fostering spiritual, emotional, social, and academic growth in every child.

Duties

Classroom Support

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and daily activities
• Help prepare classroom materials and learning centers
• Support children during structured learning time, small groups, and play-based activities
• Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment

Supervision & Safety

• Maintain active supervision of children at all times
• Follow all DSS licensing regulations and Brookwood safety policies
• Count children consistently during transitions (doorways, playground, room changes)
• Assist with diapering, toileting, handwashing, and other hygiene routines
• Ensure playground and indoor transitions are handled safely and intentionally

Relationship Building

• Build positive, nurturing relationships with children
• Support children in developing social skills and emotional regulation
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with parents and staff
• Work collaboratively with co-teachers and administration

Faith Integration

• Model Christ-like behavior and professionalism
• Participate in prayer, Bible stories, and faith-based activities as appropriate
• Support Brookwood’s Christian mission and values



Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (required)

Early Childhood coursework or certification (preferred)

Experience in a licensed childcare facility (preferred)

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and actively engage with young children

Strong classroom awareness and supervision skills

Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented

Must pass background check and meet DSS requirements
