As an Assistant Teacher at Jupiter House Preschool, you’ll create a fun, safe environment for little ones who are constantly on the move. Through a daily schedule of purposeful play, you’ll help lay the foundation for the school setting as children navigate a classroom environment, build their motor skills and grow their vocabulary. Make a difference every day.
- Spend your days building genuine relationships with each child.
- Help children learn about language and literacy, science, life skills, and more.
- Work with your co-teacher to implement the lesson plans from the research-informed Balanced Learning® curriculum.
- Maintain a well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.
- Discover what works best for each child as you teach them about the world around them.
Duties
Classroom Support
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and classroom activities
- Help prepare and maintain learning centers, art projects, and sensory activities
- Support group activities including circle time, music, and gross motor play
- Ensure smooth daily transitions and routines
Child Supervision & Safety
- Maintain constant supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of all children
- Follow all state licensing regulations and center policies
- Monitor classroom and playground environments for safety hazards
- Respond appropriately to accidents and incidents
Caregiving Duties
- Perform diaper changes and assist with potty training
- Support meal and snack times while encouraging self-help skills
- Assist with nap time routines
- Promote proper hygiene practices including handwashing
Social & Emotional Support
- Provide nurturing care and build positive relationships with children
- Model appropriate behavior and positive language
- Use positive guidance strategies to redirect challenging behaviors
- Support children’s emotional regulation and social skill development
Communication & Teamwork
- Maintain accurate daily records (meals, diapers, naps, activities)
- Communicate professionally and positively with families
- Collaborate with teaching team and participate in staff meetings and trainings
- Be flexible and willing to assist in other classrooms as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Experience working with toddlers in a licensed childcare setting preferred
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with young children
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Passion for early childhood education
