Lead the way in early childhood development. We are seeking a visionary EHS Teacher to take ownership of a classroom and drive the educational foundation for our infants and toddlers. As a Lead Teacher, you are the architect of a nurturing environment where health, nutrition, and developmentally appropriate education meet. You will ensure full compliance with Federal Head Start Performance Standards while fostering a culture of safety and excellence.

You aren't just teaching; you are managing a vital developmental hub. You will lead the classroom team, mentor assistant staff, and serve as the primary liaison for parents. By observing, documenting, and individualizing lesson plans, you ensure every child—regardless of their starting point—reaches their full potential.
Duties
Classroom Leadership & Instruction (60%)
- Curriculum Ownership: Design and execute daily lesson plans that promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, integrating cultural and parental influences.
- Instructional Excellence: Lead small and large group experiences, music, movement, and motor activities using evidence-based, developmentally appropriate practices.
- Child Assessment: Conduct screenings and maintain detailed anecdotal records to identify strengths and create individualized learning paths.
- Collaborative Care: Partner with Special Needs staff to implement goals and lead monthly staffing meetings to review child progress.
Family Engagement & Safety (30%)
- Parent Partnerships: Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain frequent, professional communication regarding child progress and home-to-center transitions.
- Advocacy: Act as a resource for families by maintaining a working knowledge of community resources.
Compliance & Professionalism (10%)
- Record Keeping: Ensure 100% accuracy in electronic/written records, including assessments, attendance, and health documentation.
- Mentorship: Supervise and guide Assistant Teachers and volunteers to ensure a cohesive team environment.
- Confidentiality: Maintain the highest standards of data privacy per Head Start policy.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Required: An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field with a focus on Infant/Toddler development.
- Credentialing: Must have a specialized Infant/Toddler CDA.
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience leading a pre-school or infant/toddler classroom is preferred.
Certifications & Compliance:
- Safety: Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification.
- Clearance: Must clear a full background check, health screening, and be enrolled in the WI Registry.
