The preschool cook will be responsible for planning and preparing nutritious meals and snacks for children in a preschool setting. The cook will work closely with the Food Program Manager and other staff members to ensure that all meals meet the nutritional needs of the children and comply with the Texas Department of Agriculture, and all safety and sanitation regulations.
• Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks for children aged 0-5 years
• Ensure that all meals are nutritious and meet the dietary needs of the children
• Order and maintain an inventory of food supplies and equipment
• Monitor food temperature and storage to ensure food safety
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining area
• Adhere to all safety and sanitation regulations
• Work with the Director and other staff members to plan menus that meet the needs of children with dietary restrictions or allergies
• Develop positive relationships with children and staff members
• Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions as required
• Other duties as assigned by the Director
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Willing to obtain a Food Manager Certification
• Previous experience in food service, preferably in a school or childcare setting
• Knowledge of child nutrition and dietary needs
• Familiarity with safety and sanitation regulations related to food preparation and service
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift heavy objects as needed
• A criminal record check and other background checks as required by the employer
