Summary
We are currently looking for a classroom assistant to join our team for a full-time 8-3 schedule in a 3-6yo classroom. Assistants collaborate with lead teachers to maintain the classroom and support the children’s development. An ideal candidate would have classroom experience, preferably in a Montessori environment, but this is not a requirement. This position comes with opportunities for growth and school sponsored Montessori training for candidates interested in a career in Montessori education.
Duties
Responsibilities include:
- Safe supervision of children
- Supporting young children's development and independence under direction of Lead Montessori Guide
- Classroom/playground monitoring
- Maintaining clean and orderly classroom spaces
- Contributing to the respect and joy in our community
Requirements
Requirements include:
- High school diploma (early childhood certification or equivalent preferred)
- Prior experience with young children
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to be reliable, consistent, and flexible
- Ability to easily get up from/down on the floor to children’s level as well as lift up to 30 lbs
- Willingness to learn and adopt Montessori practices
