School Janitor

Summary

The Children's Institute at Jericho is currently seeking a dedicated individual to join our team to ensure a clean and safe environment for our students and staff. As a Montessori school nestled in Jericho, we take great pride in maintaining a high standard of care for our small school community.

The primary responsibilities for this role include performing general cleaning and sanitization throughout the building, as well as managing the stocking of cleaning inventory. We are looking for someone who is committed to providing a healthy space where our children can learn and grow.

Duties

Primary duties:

• Keeps the school in clean and orderly condition.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Sweeps, mops, and vacuums floors.
• Gathers and empties trash.
• Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restrooms.
• Scrubs, sanitizes a small kitchen.
• Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
• Manages inventory of cleaning supplies.
• Notifies Director regarding the need for repairs.

Requirements

• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
• Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures
• Ability to stand, walk, and bend
• Ability to preform repetitive motion for periods of time
• Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, and cleaning solutions
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic math skills

Position: Permanent part-time

Hours: 2pm - 4pm

Days: Monday - Friday

Opportunity for more hours if desired during the morning time: Cleaning classroom shelves, etc.
