Assistant Teacher

The Children's Institute at Jericho is currently seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to join our team of dedicated educators. We are looking for candidates who possess a passion for childcare and prior experience in daycare or early childhood education.

Duties

• Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to school
• Providing patient, kind, reliable, and consistent care within the classroom and outdoor environments.
• Supporting children in all daily activities while guiding them toward independence.
• Maintaining the order, readiness, and cleanliness of the classroom and shared building spaces.
• Maintaining an overview of classroom activity during both individual and group lessons.
• Assisting the Lead Teacher in implementing the curriculum consistent with the Montessori Method.
• Assisting the Lead Teacher in implementing individualized strategies and accommodations to support the children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development.
• Sharing observations and concerns regarding any child directly with the Lead Teacher.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience
• 21+ College hours in ECE or related field
• Demonstrates enthusiasm for working with young children.
• Is positive, energetic, punctual, and dependable.
• Remains flexible and willing to provide support where needed to benefit the community.
• Is physically capable of engaging with children at their level and carrying a child during an emergency.
• Possesses a curiosity regarding Montessori philosophy and a willingness to engage in professional development.
• Communicates effectively and collaborates successfully with diverse personalities.
• Remains mindful of their influence and consistently models appropriate grace and courtesy.
• Desires to establish meaningful and respectful relationships with children, parents, and staff.

Pay Scale for Assistant: $20.00 - $24.00/hr ($35,200yr - $42,240yr) Dependent upon education and experience
