Lead Toddler Teacher – 5th Place Community Childcare
As a Lead Toddler Teacher at 5th Place Community Childcare, you will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that supports the developmental needs of toddlers (typically ages 12–36 months). You will be responsible for planning and implementing play-based, age-appropriate activities that foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth. Partnering with families and the teaching team, you will promote positive guidance, build strong relationships with each child, and maintain a classroom culture that reflects our mission: Let’s Just Play.
Duties
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily classroom activities that support toddlers’ developmental milestones using play-based curriculum tailored to individual needs.
- Provide consistent, warm, and responsive care that promotes self-help skills, language development, social interactions, and age-appropriate exploration.
- Plan and document lesson plans, observations, portfolios, and assessments aligned with state licensing standards and 5th Place policies.
- Communicate effectively with parents through daily check-ins, conferences, and written observations to share progress, routines, and individualized goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment that meets health and safety regulations.
- Mentor and support assistant teachers and teaching aides in implementing curriculum and classroom routines.
- Use positive guidance strategies to support toddlers’ emotional regulation, cooperation, and conflict resolution.
- Comply with all DHS licensing requirements, center policies, and quality improvement standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and staff meetings.
Requirements
Current Fingerprint Clearance Card
Child development coursework or equivalent (CDA, ECE units preferred).
Experience working with toddlers in a licensed childcare or early childhood setting.
Knowledge of toddler growth and development, curriculum planning, and positive guidance practices.
Strong communication skills and ability to partner with families.
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
