Summary
PATCH is seeking an individual to be responsible for recruiting and providing technical assistance to individuals interested in becoming a family child care provider. Monitors participants on the Child Care Food Program for compliance with USDA regulations.
Duties
Essential Duties:
- Maintains a tracking system that follows a potential family child care provider from the initial phone call to becoming a child care provider.
- Conducts home visits to provide technical assistance to potential family child care providers to assist them in offering quality child care in their homes.
- Conducts outreach activities to identify potential family child care providers and to promote the business of family child care.
- Performs monitoring visits to participants on the Child Care Food Program. Includes documentation of reviews and recordkeeping.
- Scans, reads and evaluates participant menus. Includes making adjustments, tallying changes and making follow-up calls to participants.
- Prepares home visiting schedule.
- Conducts home visits to potential participants of the Child Care Food Program. Includes educating them about all aspects of the program.
- Performs technical assistance to participants (throughout the state) with regards to the Child Care Food Program.
- Assist and support families looking for child care resource & referrals
Other Duties:
- Connects potential family child care providers with other community resources that can assist them in their process of becoming a family child care provider.
- Prepare for and attend outreach events in the community
- Supports the Food Program’s Office Assistant with logging menus
- Updates each participant’s nutrition education record.
- Any other duties as assigned
Work Hours:
- Part-time 25 hours per week, 5 hours a day M – F with occasional nights and weekends.
- Neighbor Islands: Varying hours, each island office determines start and end times; duties may
- require evening and weekend hours.
Equipment Use: Computer and standard office equipment.
Mental, Physical and Communication Demands:
- Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be organized and able to pay close attention to detail.
- Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and closely in a team.
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and kneel.
- Must occasionally lift/or move more than 50 pounds
Requirements
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Skills and Knowledge:
- Familiar with USDA meal patterns requirements is preferred
- Requires knowledge of customer service and oral and written communication skills.
- Requires proficiency in computer & typing skills.
- Knowledge of CDA process
- Knowledge of State’s childcare licensing requirements is preferred.
- Knowledge of community childcare issues and resources is preferred.
Education/Experience:
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
- Experience working in the early childhood field is preferred
