Job Description:
- Assist a classroom with a playful, project-based approach inspired by the interests and passions of the children in the classroom. As well as ensuring that required areas of the classroom (literacy, math, nature, loose parts, science, etc.) are prepared, inviting, and easily accessible to all students
- Provide guidance to children, supporting their social-emotional, physical, and intellectual development, plus healthy risk assessment and community building
- Ensure compliance with all state regulations. Including required training and other appropriate courses that relate specifically to your position
- Practice redemptive classroom management, coaching, and discipline strategies
- Keep surfaces in the classroom free of clutter, and regularly disinfect surfaces daily (this includes the floor, cubbies, teacher cabinets, etc.) Sweep and vacuum as necessary
- Using Brightwheel daily. Recording children’s attendance, activities, meals/snacks, and work shift activities/changes.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and all scheduled professional development days in their entirety

- Engage in sustained physical activity throughout the day
- Lift up to 50 lbs. (the size of a small child)
- Hear children and see children (have 20:20 vision with corrective lenses)
- Ability to stand, walk, and engage with children on their level
- Spend multiple hours outdoors in all weather
- Keep pace with children and other staff
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- ECE Initial Certificate, Short ECE Certificate preferred. Or have a set plan with MERIT to obtain the required certificate(s)
- Willingness to exceed DCYF annual training requirement of 10 hours per year
- Preferred at least one year of experience working with children in a childcare environment
- Strong writing, speaking, and communication skills
- WA State Child Abuse Clearance and Criminal History Record Background Check
- Preferred Bilingual in Spanish or other languages
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly wage based on experience: $19.00 - $21.00
