Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Paraprofessional to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who finds joy in working with young children and is committed to creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally rich environment. You will play a key role in supporting children during their most formative years—helping them build foundational skills for school and life.
Duties
- Assess each child in his/her classroom using proper assessment tools
- Help children progress academically, socially and emotionally with continual interactions and play
- Prepare each child academically according to developmentally appropriate practice and curriculum
- Correspond weekly with parents and caregivers
- Keep meticulous and timely records/case notes
- Ensure that visual supervision of the children is maintained at all times
- Ensure a positive emotional climate for the children by showing respect to children and adults through a willingness to help others, by maintaining harmonious and respectful interpersonal relationships
- Use appropriate and approved discipline techniques and language
- Maintain an environment conducive to preventive discipline
- Speak in a well-modulated, pleasant and caring voice to children, caregivers, and staff
- Represent the Spark Community publicly in a positive way
- Ensure that a clean, safe, healthy and sanitary learning environment is maintained and that children are kept clean, and toys and other materials are disinfected each day
- During periods of physical activity, ensures that active involvement is maintained with children to promote gross and fine motor development
- Complete required hours of relevant and approved in-service trainings annually
- Ensures compliance with company’s policies, procedures and guidelines, as well as those requirements set forth by regulatory agencies, including EIDT , Child Care Licensing, and the Department of Health
- Display concern for the rights of children and families served by the center
- Work from a place of empathy and respect, treating staff, children and parents with dignity at all times
- Report for work dressed appropriately and complies with company policies regarding dress code and appearance
- Ensure of confidentiality children and employee information
- Attend professional development trainings
Requirements
- Previous experience in daycare, preschool, or childcare setting
- Strong understanding of child development principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques
- Passion for working with young children
Must be able to pass adult, child, and criminal background checks as well as Pre-employment Drug Testing. This position has a training pay of $11.00 an hour for first 30 days.
