Child Care Center School Age Assistant Teacher

Summary

The Child Care & Learning Center is hiring a part-time Assistant Teacher position for the School Age Program. The ideal candidate for this position will have one year or more of full-time experience as an assistant teacher or teacher aide in a child care center or public school setting, a strong desire to work in early childhood education with students of all abilities, excellent communication and time management skills, and the desire to pursue additional training or continuing education.  This position is Monday to Friday 3-6pm, full day when RCES is closed including summer time.

Duties

Primary duties for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Supervising children
• Working under the direction of a Lead Teacher
• Actively engaged with school age children in daily activities
• Supporting play and nature-based learning activities
• Participating in training and educational opportunities to increase skills and knowledge of child development, behavioral management, and outdoor education.
• Driving school vehicle to field trip locations

Requirements

At a minimum, all candidates must have one year of successful work experience, three references, a high school diploma or GED, a good work ethic, a love of children, and a desire to support children and families from all walks of life. 

This position requires the ability to lift a child of up to 50 pounds, and the willingness and ability to supervise children outdoors in all weather.

A current driver's license, a clean Department of Vehicles driving record and the ability to drive a passenger van.

Candidates are required to pass a criminal background check, 10 hours of preservice training, and a 3-hour orientation before supervising children.

Nice To Haves
