Growing Up At Obici Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring Assistant Teachers to work in all our classes with children ages Infants through School age. The Assistant Teacher supports the teachers and managers by helping create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. The Assistant Teacher must be able to communicate, listen, and work well with others in a team environment. Assist the teacher in implementing a quality learning program and develop positive relationships with the children and their parents.
High School diploma or equivalent required. Prefer college level course work in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, psychology, or completion of Child Development Associate Credential (CDA).
Abide by the Department of Education Licensing and Sentara Orientation and ongoing training requirements. Ensure all center policies and state regulations are followed. Ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining proper hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of the children. Assist the teacher in planning and implementing the daily program for the class. Maintain state required records for adequate reporting.
Valid Driver's License
First Aid and CPR certification within the first 30 days of employment.
Food Handlers Certification within the first 90 days of employment.
