Assistant for School Age

Summary

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dependable Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for school-age children (typically ages 5–12). The ideal candidate will assist with classroom management, activity facilitation, and supervision during academic, recreational, and enrichment times. This position requires a genuine passion for working with children, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Ideal for someone interested in 15 -20 hours a week.

Duties

• Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing age-appropriate educational and recreational activities.
• Supervise children during classroom, outdoor, meal, and transition times to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Support children with homework help, academic reinforcement, and social development.
• Promote positive behavior using consistent and respectful guidance strategies.
• Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment that supports the diverse needs of children.
• Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.
• Build strong, positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff.
• Communicate effectively with the Lead Teacher and report any concerns regarding child behavior, injuries, or classroom needs.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
• Comply with all school, licensing, and safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or certification in early childhood education or child development preferred.
• Previous experience working with school-age children in a structured setting is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow directions, adapt to changes, and take initiative when needed.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Must pass background check and meet all licensing requirements.
