Ascension Childcare, Inc. (ACC) is a NAEYC accredited and 5 STAR early childhood care and education program in Shelburne, VT. ACC has been serving the community for over 30 years and currently serves more than 40 families with around 55 children ages six weeks to five years old. ACC is an independent, 501(c)3 non-profit and embraces a play-based program philosophy, with a focus on anti-bias education.
Under the leadership of the Executive Director, the Assistant Director is responsible for working to ensure the program's core values, mission, philosophy, and developmentally appropriate practices are present and consistent across all classrooms. The Assistant Director, in collaboration with the Executive Director, provides daily oversight of Ascension Childcare, Inc's classrooms and programming. This includes assisting with all aspects of compliance and program regulation, accreditation, licensing, staffing and professional development, curriculum, quality control, budgeting, parent and public relations. The Assistant Director oversees planned and implemented curriculum in all classrooms, offering collaboration, feedback and advice to classroom teachers as they plan and execute curriculum. The Assistant Director supports classroom teachers to ensure proper behavior management strategies are implemented for children who display challenging behaviors, children with identified special needs have proper accommodations, and intervention services are scheduled and maintained.
