Peachtree Academy is seeking an innovative, compassionate, and engaging Elementary Special Education Teacher to join our dedicated team of educators! This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a small classroom setting of just eight students, allowing for individualized attention and strong relationships with students and families.
About the Position:
The ideal candidate will create and implement dynamic, individualized lesson plans aligned with educational standards and student skill levels. This teacher will manage all aspects of the classroom’s daily operations, fostering a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where every child can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our students are selected through an application process and thrive in a faith-based, structured, and caring setting. Several of our students are on the autism spectrum and work close to grade level, supported by ABA therapists who partner in the classroom daily.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans tailored to student abilities and needs.
- Foster a supportive classroom culture that encourages growth, independence, and respect.
- Collaborate closely with ABA therapists, other elementary teachers, and specialty teachers (Art, Music, and PE).
- Maintain open, positive communication with parents and staff to ensure student success.
- Promote social-emotional development and classroom engagement through creativity and care.
- Uphold Christian values of kindness, service, and excellence in all aspects of the classroom.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Georgia teaching certification in Special Education or eligibility required.
- Strong understanding of children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- Experience working with students on the autism spectrum is highly valued.
- Excellent communication skills with both children and adults.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude and a passion for individualized education.

Duties
- Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices.
- Lead by example through excellent language skills, modeling and coaching.
- Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
- Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Take excellent notes about student areas of improvement and skills that need to be strengthened.
- Ensure a healthy classroom environment including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and ensuring each students safety and security.
- Supervise student progress by working with the ABA Therapists to maximize learning.
- Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
- Maintain your personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
- The ideal candidate would have at least a Bachelor's or Master's degree in early childhood education,Elementary education, Child and family studies, or a related field
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team approach.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Must pass a National background check

The early childhood division of the school bases its academic program on a weekly unit of study for academic advancement. Teachers use lesson plans to guide the delivery of information and address individual issues of advanced skill levels or areas of improvement that are needed. Parents may supplement curriculum by bringing in books, materials, or ideas related to the theme for the benefit of the class.
