School Age Child Care Before and After School Teacher

Summary

School Age B/A School Teacher at before/after school programs located in Beacon Falls and Prospect

• Responsible for the care, supervision, and safety of all children in program as part of a team.
• Helps keep the program running smoothly along with the head teacher, and keeps head teacher/director aware of any concerns/issues.
• Learns, implements, and ensures compliance with State of CT Licensing standards.

Duties

As part of a team, teacher is responsible for:

• for planning and implementing appropriate activities
• attendance, making sure all children are accounted for
•  for the day-to-day care of all the children
•  meeting all the children's needs
•  keeping the program running smoothly
•  set up and clean-up of all areas used; prep and serve snack
•  notifying head teacher of any concerns/issues
•  program leadership in absence of head teacher
•  assisting head teacher in any areas needed, report to director and/or head teacher
• not all inclusive of day-to-day responsibilities

Requirements

•       Clear understanding of OEC licensing requirements, or willing to meet.
• Experience in childcare, before/after school setting preferred.
•       Must have or willing to obtain current first aid, CPR, and medication administration training.
•       Background check required by State of CT.
•       Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
•       Strong leadership skills.
•       A positive approach to discipline
•       Responsibility and professionalism
•       Positive, creative, and healthy attitude
•       Must have personal qualities necessary to care for and work with children, work as part of a team, and communicate with parents and other professionals.
•       Ability to work before and after school shifts approx. 6:30-8:30 and 2:45-5/6.
• Occasional 8:30-10:30 and/or 12:45-5/6 on delayed openings or early dismissal days
