Summary

The Infant Teacher is responsible for the daily care, nurturing, and developmental support of infants in the childcare center. This role requires patience, attentiveness, and a deep understanding of infant needs and early childhood development. The Infant Teacher will create and maintain a safe, loving, and stimulating environment, foster trusting relationships with families, and ensure that all routines and activities support the infants’ physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth. This is a full-time position requiring consistent commitment and professionalism.

Duties

  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and responsive environment for infants at all times.
  • Implement daily routines including feeding, diapering, napping, and playtime while maintaining consistency and individualized care.
  • Plan and engage infants in age-appropriate activities that encourage sensory exploration, motor skills, and early social interaction.
  • Observe and document each child’s growth, development, and milestones, sharing progress with parents and the director.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families, providing daily communication and updates about their child.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic classroom environment, including sanitizing toys, equipment, and surfaces regularly.
  • Ensure proper nutrition and hygiene practices during feeding times, including bottle preparation, introducing solids (as applicable), and safe food handling.
  • Comfort and support infants through soothing techniques, responsive caregiving, and individualized attention.
  • Collaborate with co-teachers and staff to ensure consistent, high-quality care.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required trainings.
  • Follow all center policies, licensing regulations, and health and safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in childcare or early childhood education required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and priorities
  • Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field 
  • Child Development Associate (CDA)
