Summary

The Assistant Teacher will help create a nurturing, inclusive space where children of all abilities can explore, grow, and thrive. Working alongside Lead Teachers and a supportive team, you will be responsible to engage children in developmentally appropriate activities while promoting social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth.

Duties

Instructional Support

 •       Assist in planning and implementing enriching, age-appropriate activities aligned with educational goals.

•       Support individualized learning approaches based on each child's needs and developmental stage.

•       Promote language, literacy, numeracy, creativity, and social-emotional development through daily play-based learning

 

Child Supervision & Safety

•       Always maintain active supervision of children, indoors and outdoors.

•       Foster a safe, clean, and respectful environment that supports well-being and exploration.

•       Follow all health, safety, and emergency protocols.

  

Communication & Collaboration

 •       Partner with Lead Teachers and team members to ensure consistent routines and learning experiences.

•       Communicate with families in a respectful and compassionate manner.

•       Attend team meetings, training, and CEC's events as required.



Inclusive Practice

•       Create a welcoming, equitable, learning environment for children of all abilities.

•       Model patience, empathy, and positive behavioral support strategies.

•       Celebrate diversity and promote inclusive learning and play.

•       Foster a collaborative and positive workplace culture.

 

Requirements

•       High school diploma or GED

•       Experience working with children (formal or informal)

•       Willingness to complete required childcare training and certifications.

•        Passion for early childhood education and inclusive environments.

Nice To Haves

•       CDA credential or coursework in Early Childhood Education

•       Experience with children with disabilities or diverse learning needs.

•       CPR/First Aid Certification
