Substitute

Summary

We are looking for quality substitutes for our program! We operate from 8:30-2:15 and serve children ages 5 months- K5. You would be responsible for following the lesson plan of the teacher or aide in which you are covering for and fostering a safe and loving environment rooted in God's love.

Duties

As a substitute, you would be filling in for a lead teacher or aide when they are unable to attend. You would need to follow the plan they leave for you and work with the others in their team. In addition to following the plans, you would also be responsible for the following:

• Complete necessary administrative tasks, such as attendance and incident reports
• Lead, supervise, and support assistant teachers and staff in day-to-day classroom operations.
• Ensure that all classroom activities are safe and engaging.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom that promotes positive learning experiences
• Ensure the safety and health of children by adhering to all DSS safety protocols and maintaining a secure environment.
• Provide age-appropriate care, addressing children’s needs for feeding, naps, and hygiene in a timely and compassionate manner.
• Participate in practice safety drills to ensure the best care if an emergency arises.

Requirements

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional childcare training or certification are a plus.

Experience:

• Would prefer previous experience working with children in a childcare setting.

Certifications:

• CPR and First Aid Certification. We provide this training in October, every 2 years.

Skills and Abilities:

• Understanding of child development stages, particularly in toddlerhood.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
• Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
• Physical requirements include standing, bending, and the ability to lift children (up to 40 lbs).
