Summary
Do you enjoy working with children from toddlers through 8th grade? Are you interested in learning about the Montessori philosophy and child development? Do you have a creative flair that you would like to share with children? If so, then join our Montessori Enrichment Team at Richmond Montessori School. Our programs begin after the school morning and encompass lunch and nap with our younger children and lunch and activities with our older students.
Position Classification: full-time, faculty, non-exempt position
Reports to: Director of Montessori Enrichment/Early Childhood Education Director
Position begins: August 13th, 2025
Hours: 10:30 AM - 6:00 PM
Duties
- Keep informed and support the Montessori approach to education in classrooms and programs
- Work with children ages three years to eighth grade
- Prepare the classroom environment for independence, exploration, and engaging activities
- Care for all materials and furnishings purchased by RMS for use in the classroom
- Ensure that materials in use are kept attractive and clean
- Supervise children both indoors and outdoors
- Maintain order and cleanliness of the classroom environment
- Assist in preparing the written Montessori Enrichment progress reports
- Relay pertinent information and observations to the Director of Montessori Enrichment.
- Complete various forms such as self-evaluations and accident report forms.
- Work alongside other team members
Requirements
- Has strong oral & written communication
- Familiar with basic Microsoft software for email and calendaring
- Has a strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Can work independently with consistent follow-through
- Demonstrates confidentiality regarding parent and family situations
- Possesses strong interpersonal skills
- Has a positive attitude
- Treat co-workers with respect
- CPR/First Aid certified (RMS will cover training and certification costs)
- Experience working with children or in child-care and/or an educational setting
Nice To Haves
- A bachelor’s degree and experience in a Montessori setting are preferred.
- Experience with licensed childcare program standards and working with children is beneficial.
- Two years of classroom experience with students at the class level assignment
