Duties

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To oversee the successful operation of St. John Preschool by committing to providing a Christ-centered, Biblically based program that prioritizes a high-quality education and foundation of faith for preschool students.

 

General Responsibilities: To actively seek God’s will in establishing policies and procedures that are in the best interest of 150+ students and 30+ staff members. To support and develop 30+ staff members by leading them in best practices and providing opportunities for discipleship. It is the director’s responsibility to maintain the state childcare license by adhering to all state guidelines and law. The director provides clear and effective communication to staff members, families, the Division of Regulated Childcare, the Preschool / After School Board, and St. John Community Church staff. The director oversees the financial operations of the preschool program. Full involvement in the life of the church is expected.

 

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Establish preschool policies and procedures.
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness and quality of the preschool program; adjust policies as needed to benefit students, families, and staff.
  • Review state regulations and law for preschool programs and modify policies to ensure compliance.
  • Develop personnel standards and the staff agreement to reflect the goal of providing an education that is guided by our Christian faith.
  • Maintain a state childcare license in good standing. This includes but is not limited to postings in classrooms, emergency preparedness and drills, staff and student records, training opportunities, staff evaluations, maintaining ratios.
  • Enroll and complete placement for 150+ students.
  • Market preschool program.
  • Execute annual registration process for preschool families.
  • Recruit and hire competent, experienced, and qualified staff.
  • Develop, distribute, and analyze results of parent surveys.
  • Collaborate with staff to develop solutions for children who need extra support.
  • Prioritize discipleship and opportunities for staff to grow in their faith.
  • Oversee curriculum and assessment tools.
  • Collaborate with team leaders and teachers regarding themes, curriculum, teaching methods, and assessments.
  • Establish program schedule, including early care and extended day.
  • Support children with varying needs to allow them to meet their full potential in a safe environment.
  • Communicate with families, preschool staff, and St. John Community Church staff.

Families


  • Conduct tours for prospective families.
  • Develop and review parent handbook at annual parent orientation.
  • Monthly newsletters.
  • Communicate with parents about children who need extra support. Connect them with community resources and collaborate with them for student success.

 

Preschool Staff


  • Spend time in classrooms to observe, participate, and encourage teachers.
  • Weekly emails include devotional, reminders about upcoming events (i.e. safety drills, chapel services, holiday events), policies, and proper procedure.)
  • All staff, team leader, and team meetings conducted monthly.
  • Oversee preschool finances.
  • Develop the annual budget based on fair tuition rates.
  • Oversee scholarship application process, scholarship committee meeting, and distributing scholarships.
  • Develop pay chart for competitive staff compensation.
  • Purchase and stock all equipment, curriculum, and supplies.
  • Complete bi-monthly payroll.
  • Prepare agenda and all documents needed for Preschool/Afterschool Board meetings.
  • Collaborate with committee to make decisions regarding preschool rates, budget, policies, projects.
  • Parent and student orientation
  • Schedule bi-monthly chapel services
  • Develop and promote opportunities to partner with St. John Community Church.
  • Coordinate and execute Preschool / After School Sunday

St. John Community Church Staff


  • Actively participate in weekly staff meetings.
  • Continuous open communication to work together to uphold the vision and values of St. John Community Church.

Requirements

Previous classroom teaching experience.

Nice To Haves
