Early Childhood - Part-Time Childcare Assistant

Summary

We are seeking a dependable and flexible part-time teacher to assist in various classrooms and areas throughout our childcare center. This role is essential in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children by supporting lead teachers with daily routines, transitions, and activities. The ideal candidate is adaptable, team-oriented, and capable of stepping in where needed to ensure continuity of care. This is a part-time position with flexible hours based on the needs of the center.

Duties

• Support teachers with classroom management, activities, and daily routines.
• Supervise and engage with children during play, meals, nap time, and transitions.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and nurturing environment at all times.
• Assist with diapering, toilet training, and hygiene routines.
• Help prepare and serve meals and snacks, promoting healthy habits.
• Clean and sanitize toys, equipment, and activity areas.
• Step in for staff during breaks to maintain consistent supervision and care.
• Communicate briefly with parents during drop-off and pick-up times.
• Support special events, field trips, and other center-wide activities.
• Observe and report significant behaviors or developmental concerns to the lead teacher or director.
• Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in various classrooms and age groups as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in childcare or early childhood education preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
• Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with children.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and priorities
• Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field 
• Child Development Associate (CDA)
