Summary
The Teacher is responsible for the direct care, supervision, and education of a specific group of children within the center. They are responsible for implementing the curriculum, creating a positive and engaging learning environment, effectively guide teacher assistants, and communicate effectively with parents about their child's progress, and resolve parental concerns.
Duties
- Establish and maintain a positive and organized classroom environment.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and lessons based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
- Daily communication with parents regarding their child's day, progress, and address parental concerns.
- Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
- Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
- Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
Requirements
- Must be at least 17 years of age
- High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED).
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
