Summary
Overview: We are seeking an upbeat, dependable, energetic, and warm individual who can engage with children and create a positive environment. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys working with children, is passionate about early childhood education, and is available to work five days a week up to 6 P.M. A minimum of six months of experience in a licensed daycare center is required to be considered for a Lead Qualified position.
Duties
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement age-appropriate lesson plans that foster social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
- Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for all children.
- Supervise daily activities, ensuring the well-being of each child.
- Encourage positive social interactions and teamwork among children.
- Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on their child’s progress and addressing any concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of children's development and behavior.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance the overall daycare experience.
- Stay current with best practices in early childhood education and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Ensure a safe and well-behaved environment for all children.
- Lead creative activities, including crafts, games, and learning experiences.
- Prepare snacks and meals for children.
- Maintain a clean and organized daycare center.
- Comfort children who are upset or homesick.
- Facilitate activities to teach basic literacy, including the alphabet and basic reading skills.
- Assist with the feeding, changing, and carrying of infants at the daycare center.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in childcare or early childhood education preferred.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and practices.
- Familiarity with first aid and emergency procedures.
- Ability to design engaging activities that cater to diverse learning styles.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude toward children.
- High school diploma required; Some college coursework in early childhood education is a plus.
- At least six months of experience working in a childcare setting.
- Emotional maturity, flexibility, and the ability to cooperate with the aims of the program.
- Ability to collaborate with parents to support their child’s learning and development.
- Must pass tuberculosis testing and background checks required by the PCC and VDOE.
- Reliable, regular attendance is required.
Nice To Haves
- Certification in first aid or CPR is highly desirable.
- Experience working with special education needs is a plus.
