School Age Teacher / Closer

Summary

KCA is seeking a dedicated and energetic School-Age Room Teacher & Childcare Closer to join our team for the afternoon shift. This position is responsible for supervising and engaging school-age children in a safe, structured, and fun environment while ensuring the center is properly closed at the end of the day.

Responsibilities:

School-Age Room Teacher Duties:

• Supervise and engage school-age children in age-appropriate activities.
• Assist with homework, crafts, and recreational activities.
• Maintain a positive and nurturing learning environment.
• Ensure classroom safety and enforce center policies.
• Communicate effectively with parents and staff regarding children's progress and behavior.

Childcare Closer Duties:

• Ensure all children are picked up by authorized guardians.
• Clean and sanitize toys, tables, and other classroom areas.
• Organize and restock classroom materials as needed.
• Secure the facility by following closing procedures.
• Complete end-of-day reports and communicate any concerns to the director.

Schedule:

• Afternoon hours (2:30pm - 6:00pm).
• Must be available to work until the center closes.

Duties

School-Age Room Teacher Duties:

Supervision & Safety

• Provide a safe, structured, and engaging environment for school-age children.
• Monitor children's activities to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
• Follow all center policies and licensing regulations.

Engagement & Learning

• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities, including arts, crafts, and group games.
• Assist children with homework and encourage learning through play.
• Foster positive social interactions and teamwork among children.

Communication & Behavior Management

• Maintain open and professional communication with parents regarding their child's progress and behavior.
• Implement positive discipline strategies and redirect negative behaviors as needed.
• Report any concerns about children's well-being to the director.

Childcare Closer Duties:

End-of-Day Procedures

• Ensure all children are safely picked up by authorized guardians.
• Maintain accurate sign-in/out records.
• Communicate with parents and staff about any important updates before closing.

Classroom Organization & Clean-Up

• Clean and sanitize tables, toys, and play areas before closing.
• Organize and restock classroom materials for the next day.
• Secure and store all supplies, ensuring a tidy and prepared environment.

Closing & Facility Security

• Ensure all areas of the center are clean and properly locked before leaving.
• Turn off lights, secure doors, and set any necessary alarms.
• Complete and submit any necessary closing reports or notes for the director.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience working with children in a childcare or school setting preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to interact positively with children, parents, and staff.
• Dependable, responsible, and able to follow closing procedures.
