Toddler Classroom Assistant

Summary

Sundrops Montessori School - Palmetto Campus is seeking a nurturing, enthusiastic, flexible individual who is passionate about working with young children.  The toddler classroom assistant must understand the developmental needs of children in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are respected individually and trusted to develop naturally. On-site training is offered so while experience is preferred, it is not required.  Individuals must be comfortable doing the daily cleaning required, changing diapers, lifting and assisting in feeding children, as well as enforcing child safety measures while using gentle positive redirection.  Open and honest communication is key to maintaining a cohesive team environment and a requirement for working at Sundrops.

Duties

• Lead by example; encourage success through modeling proper verbal and physical actions
• Implement the Montessori curriculum by developing activities based on age appropriate practices 
• Plan and maintain indoor and outdoor learning environments
• Ensure all center policies and state regulations are being met
• Ensure a healthy classroom environment including but not limited to; appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards along with safety and security of children 
• Participate in professional development trainings to meet DSS requirements

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work well with others(staff, children and parents) to create a positive team environment
• Ability to lift a minimum of 30lbs
• Willingness to follow Montessori Principles
• Must clear full background check 
• Must pass health screening
• Ability to use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels
• Ability to kneel, bend, squat, crawl or consistently sit on the floor

Nice To Haves

• Experience in early childhood education
• Experience in a Montessori environment
• Second language with willingness to help implement in the classroom
• First Aid and CPR Certification
