Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Infant/Toddler Teacher to join our dynamic preschool team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a positive and supportive environment that values both professional autonomy and collaboration.
As an Infant/Toddler Teacher, you will be responsible for the care and supervision of a class of children ages 6 weeks-12 months, 12 months-24 months, or 2-2.5 years old. You will plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that foster the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth of each child, while maintaining a safe and nurturing classroom environment. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, patience, and empathy to the role, ensuring that each child receives the individualized care and attention they need to thrive.
In addition to direct interaction with children, you will work closely with a co-lead teacher, teacher assistants, and floaters to plan and meet the needs of children. You will also communicate effectively with parents with a calm and positive attitude to address any concerns. Duties
- Create and maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment that supports the well-being of children and their families.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, including assistant teachers and classroom volunteers, to ensure a positive and efficient learning environment.
- Foster open and positive communication with parents and caregivers through regular informal discussions and formal parent-teacher conferences.
- Engage in continuous professional development, completing at least 12 hours annually as required by state guidelines and CSUMC Preschool.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based activities to support the cognitive, emotional, and social growth of each child.
- Observe and monitor children’s progress, sharing updates on strengths and areas of concern with parents and caregivers.
- Ensure adherence to all center policies and DHS regulations to maintain a safe and compliant classroom.
- Uphold professional ethics and demonstrate positive work habits in interactions with children, families, and staff members.
Requirements
- Must possess at minimum a high school diploma or GED and be at least 18 years old.
- Experience working in DHS licensed childcare setting is required.
- Strong understanding of child development and best practices in early childhood education.
- Ability to respond quickly to the physical and emotional needs of children.
- Ability to regularly lift up to 30 pounds and to sit in the floor with children as needed.
- Must clear a full background check and pass a health screening.
- Must have Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification.
Nice To Haves
- A degree or certificate in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred.
- Infant Mental Health Endorsement or the desire to obtain is highly desirable.
- Experience working with infants and toddlers in a licensed preschool or childcare setting.
- Knowledge of child development principles and practices, especially in the infant and toddler age range.
Benefits
- Full-time position (approximately 35-40 hours per week).
- Typical hours: 7:15 AM – 3:15 PM or 8:15 AM – 4:15 PM.
