Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our dynamic preschool team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a positive and supportive environment that values both professional autonomy and collaboration.


As a Preschool Teacher, you will be responsible for the care and management of a class of children between the ages of 2.5 and 5 years old. You will plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that foster the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth of each child, while maintaining a safe and nurturing classroom environment. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, patience, and empathy to the role, ensuring that each child receives the individualized care and attention they need to thrive.


In addition to direct interaction with children, you will work closely with a co-lead teacher, teacher assistants, and floaters to plan and meet the needs of children. You will also communicate effectively with parents with a calm and positive attitude to address any concerns. Duties

·        Provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for preschoolers and their families.

·        Effectively collaborate with others daily including assistant teachers and classroom volunteers.

·        Maintain frequent and positive communication with parents and caregivers through informal discussions and parent-teacher conferences.

·        Participate in ongoing professional development (12 hours annually) as required by the state and CSUMC Preschool.

·        Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and employ a variety of play-based educational strategies.

·        Observe and track children’s progress and development and communicate areas of strength and concern to parents and caregivers.

·        Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.

·        Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviors and work habits when in contact with children, parents, and staff members.

Requirements

  • Must possess at minimum a high school diploma or GED and be at least 18 years old.
  • Experience working in DHS licensed childcare setting is greatly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child development and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Ability to respond quickly to the physical and emotional needs of children.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 30 pounds and to sit in the floor with children as needed.
  • Must clear a full background check and pass a health screening.
  • Must have Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification. 

Nice To Haves

  • A degree or certificate in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred.
  • Infant or Early Childhood Mental Health Endorsement or the desire to obtain is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and practices.

Benefits

  • Full-time position (approximately 35-40 hours per week).
  • Typical hours: 7:15 AM – 3:15 PM or 8:15 AM – 4:15 PM.
  • Competitive pay: $17–19 per hour, based on education and experience.
