We are seeking qualified candidates for (4) Toddler positions. These classes serve children aged 18 months to 2 1/2 years of age. Our hours of operation are 7:30 am - 6:00 pm. These are permanent positions as we try to expand our team of top-notch early childhood educators. In this role, you will use your knowledge in early childhood education and your passion for teaching to create an inviting and happy environment where each child can learn and grow. Your experience in using a developmentally appropriate curriculum will serve to prepare children for a smooth transition to their next class. Bright Start Learning Center & Preschool is a premiere Early Learning Center and Preschool serving children ages 6 weeks through 5 years old in a welcoming, nurturing, and loving environment. At Bright Start, we take pride in our team of passionate, caring, and educated teachers who work relentlessly to ensure that our little ones receive the best education and care. We are accredited by NECPA and are active with the Virginia Quality Birth to Five Program.
Duties
At Bright Start, a Lead Teacher is expected to have the following priorities: Children, Parents, and the Center. The Lead Teacher should always have the children in mind when making plans or decisions in the classroom. The Lead Teacher has to keep the parents informed of their child's daily activities. The responsibilities that we require for a Lead Teacher:
- Create a schedule for daily indoor and outdoor activities that incorporate fine and gross motor movements, as well as cognitive and social skills.
- Observe and evaluate each child for age-appropriate milestones
- Attend to the children's basic needs (feeding, diapering, potty-training, and dressing)
- Observe and guide children's interactions to promote good social skills
- Use all opportunities to interact with children to model language skills and increase vocabulary
- Through continued observation and engaging with the children, the Lead can identify behavioral problems and strategize effectively
- Work with Teacher Assistants assigned to the class to carry out lesson plans as related to the overall curriculum, evaluations, and parental interactions
- Ensure all Virginia licensing and Bright Start Learning Center policies and procedures are adhered to within the classroom assigned
Requirements
- Must be 18 years old
- Must have at least 1 year experience as a Lead Teacher in a licensed daycare. center
- Must have at least 3 years experience in child car
- Must have as a minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a CDA or a qualifying certificate in Early Childhood Edu.
- Must exhibit good communication skills through speaking, listening comprehension, and writing
- Must be able to perform all physical aspects of the position, including frequently moving around, bending, reaching, and lifting up-to 50 pounds at a time
- Must have basic computer skills to access emails, utilize the internet, and compose Word documents
